Just hours before a dramatic lightning storm lit up the Lucerne Valley skyline, sparks of a different sort were wreaking havoc on a resident's home.
Firefighters responded to a 9:22 p.m. call of a fully engulfed mobile home in the 35400 block of Furst Street in Lucerne Valley. Upon arrival the resident had evacuated the premises.
According to reports, no injuries were reported, but the structure is a complete loss. The fire apparently was caused when the resident fell asleep while the stove was on, and when the resident awoke the home was on fire.
Three CalFire and seven County firefighters responded and extinguished the blaze in less than half an hour.
