You've probably heard that the Honorary Mayor Race has started this year already. But have you heard about some other things the Chamber of Commerce is getting ready to do? Have you heard about the Mega Swap Meet yet, or do you remember that the 4th of July Parade is coming up in a few short months? Did you know that we have "Spring Wrapped" See's Candy boxes on sale at First Mountain Bank?
Our Mega Swap Meet is an idea that was brought to us by Diane Holland. She had a vision of seeing Highway 18 littered with Swap Meet booths all up and down both sides from Custer Road to Pioneer Park and having it grow every year. This year we've gotten eight locations along Highway 18 for vendors to set up their booths: Cadillac Antiques, Henry's Bargains, Jack O'Landia, LV Market and Hardware, LV Senior Center (which will be featuring a Class Car Show in the parking lot that day), LV Shopping Center, RM Master Hay & Feed, and of course at the Chamber of Commerce building as well.
Tonight Mavrick Von Haug is hosting his first Honorary Mayor event, Celebrity Bingo with Don and Laura Dotson from A&E's Storage Wars. I'm excited to see how it turns out. It sounds like a lot of fun!
In a couple of weeks on St. Patrick's Day is Chief Ron Scriven's first Honorary Mayor event a traditional dinner with corned beef, cabbage and potatoes. He will also be hosting a horseshoe tournament and a pool tournament. It should be lots of fun, and I hope to see everyone come out for it.
This Tuesday, March 8, is our monthly Chamber meeting at the Lucerne Valley Senior Center, starting at 5:30 p.m. It's a great way to learn more about what's happening in your community and to have an active role in what we as a Chamber of Commerce do for our community.
Karen Williams is the office secretary for the Lucerne Valley Chamber of Commerce.
