LV-JV MAC to discuss new solar proposal on Camp Rock
The Lucerne Valley-Johnson Valley Municipal Advisory Council will meet at 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 19.
During the meeting, the MAC members will hear about the conditional use permit for the Camp Rock Solar Farm LLC, which is requesting to put a new 3.9 megawatt photo-voltaic solar facility on Camp Rock Road. Besides the opportunity learn about the proposal, the public will have an opportunity to voice their opinions on the item.
The MAC is expected to vote on a proposal for a State Highway Designation request by the LV Veterans Monument Committee. Other reports will be given during the meeting.
The MAC consists of Richard Selby (Chair), Roger Peterson (Vice-Chair), Jean Magee (Secretary), Lorane Abercrombie (Member), Joanna Wright (Member), Jean Fuqua (Member) & Betty Munson (Member). Thursday's meeting is held at the LV Community Center, 33187 Highway 247 East, Lucerne Valley.

Chicken Dinner Fundraiser
A Chicken Dinner Fundraiser will be held May 20th at 6 p.m. at the Senior Center. We are raising money for a Name Plaque for the new park at Visalia Road. The dinner will be $10 a plate for fried chicken, mashed potatoes, fresh green beans, coleslaw, and hot biscuits. There will also be 50/50.
Car Gathering
We will be at Burger Depot on Thursday, May 26 at 5 p.m. Bring your classic cars, or just your love of classic cars, and join us for dinner.
Moose Lodge Jam Session

L.V. Clubhouse Celebration
The Lucerne Valley Clubhouse Program is celebrating Mental Health Awareness Month with a open house lunch event from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25. All are welcome! There will be hot dog and salads, and attendees are encouraged to bring goodies. Also, there will be music, bingo, raffles and fun. Members/family will be sharing their stories and why the Clubhouse is important to them. The Clubhouse is run by Pacific Clinics, which encourages persons with disabilities to participate in its programs and activities. Please make reservations by May 18. Applications for 4th of July Parade Floats are now available in the Chamber of Commerce office, 32750 Old Woman Springs Rd.
5th Annual Bustier & Garter Poker Run
The 5th Annual Bustier & Garter Poker Run will be held on May 21. Sign-ups are 9 – 10 a.m. at Cadillac Ranch in Apple Valley. $25 per rider and $40 per couple.
Entry includes food, cash prizes and music. Contact the Lazy Lizard at 760-900-7671. Music is by After Hours from 4 – 8 p.m. followed by karaoke. All vehicles are welcome. Vendors are welcome.

Memorial Day Ceremony
The town of Lucerne Valley will host a community Memorial Day Ceremony at Lucerne Valley Memorial Park at 10 a.m. on May 30. “I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free. And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.”
Rummage Sale
First Assembly of God will hold a Rummage Sale on Saturday, May 21 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. 10x15 spaces are available for a $15 donation. Bring your table and shade. There will be horse rides, food and drinks. All donations go to the Food Ministry and Woman's Ministry. Lucerne Valley Museum hosts herbalist Charla Shamhart
There was such enthusiasm for herbal medicines and uses of native plants from last year, that the “Evening Desert” series returns May 23rd with new guest Charla Shamhart, speaking on Western herbal medicines. Lucerne Valley Museum Association will host this program at LV Community Center from 3-5pm. Free admission and light refreshments will be available. The program is open to the public.

Evening in the Park
Starting earlier this month, the community will be gathering at Pioneer Park each Friday evening to barbeque together, eat, play games and enjoy music. We will fire up the barbeques at 4 p.m., and will have plenty of food, so come eat with us and enjoy the relaxed family atmosphere of our beautiful park. This weekly gathering is sponsored by individual followers of Jesus working together to love the residents of Lucerne Valley.
Community Workshops
The last of three meetings will be held July 20 to discuss the update of Lucerne Valley’s Community Plan. The plan was previously updated in 2007.
The County invites everyone to the events, which will provide an opportunity to learn what’s happening, ask questions, take surveys and voice your opinions. For those who can’t attend the meetings, visit www.countywideplan.com/LucerneValley.
