Honorary Mayor Finale Dinner on June 10

Join the Chamber of Commerce at our Finale Dinner to find out which of our Candidates has earned the title Honorary Mayor. Our evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, June 10 at the Senior Center. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m.

Giant Yard Sale at His Closet

Giant Yard Sale at His Closet/His Pantry is a FREE ministry located at 34551 Highway 18, Lucerne Valley. On June 2-4, we will be having a huge yard sale to help us with the cost of the food, utilities, and other expenses of running the ministries. The sale will run Thursday through Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 34551 Highway 18, Lucerne Valley. Vacation Bible School at Calvary Bible

It's V.B.S. time at Calvary Bible Church. We invite all the children of Lucerne Valley from ages 4 years old through 12th grade to a FUN, FUN, FUN time of learning Bible Stories, playing games, yummy snacks, and making cool crafts. Our theme is "SUBMERGED." We look forward to seeing all of you!

Hazardous Waste Collection on June 18

The next Lucerne Valley Household Hazardous Waste Collection event will be on from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 18 behind the fire stations.

Items: anti-freeze/oil/oil filters/batteries/paint(latex only)/all electronic wastes/fluorescent bulbs/medical needles. No trash, chemicals, tires, etc.

Car Gathering on June 23

We will be meeting at Rock’s Place on June 23. All classic car owners and enthusiasts are welcome to join us.

Friday Night Dinners, Taco Night at the V.F.W.

The V.F.W. Post 551 in Lucerne Valley is now doing Friday Night Dinners from 3 – 6 p.m. Also, the V.F.W. is continuing Taco Night on Thursdays from 2 – 6 p.m. All are welcome to enjoy. The V.F.W. is at 31861 Highway 18, Lucerne Valley.

Tony Malone to present local solar project findings at LVEDA

LVEDA will meet at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7 at the Senior Center. Tony Malone will present a power point re: the issues, impacts and cumulative impacts of the 2 existing and the 2 proposed solar projects along Camprock Road.

The consultant preparing the preliminary needs assessment for our proposed senior housing project will present the data and analysis. Plus the normal updates re: our LV Community Plan - water hauling - Renewable Energy plans, etc.

"Red, White & Boom!" Fireworks

CSA 29 is proud to present our annual Red White & Boom Independence Day Celebration. This year it will take place on July 2 at Pioneer Park from 6 to 9:30 p.m.

4th of July Parade

Applications for 4th of July Parade Floats are now available in the Chamber of Commerce office, 32750 Old Woman Springs Road.

Evening in the Park

Starting earlier this month, the community will be gathering at Pioneer Park each Friday evening to barbeque together, eat, play games and enjoy music. We will fire up the barbeques at 4 p.m., and will have plenty of food, so come eat with us and enjoy the relaxed family atmosphere of our beautiful park. This weekly gathering is sponsored by individual followers of Jesus working together to love the residents of Lucerne Valley.

Moose Lodge Jam

The Moose Lodge will host a barbecue party jam session at 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 26. The jam sessions are held at the Lodge every fourth Sunday of the month. The Lucerne Valley Moose Lodge is located at 31878 Laramie St, Lucerne Valley, CA 92356. For more information, call (760) 248-6164.

Community Workshops

The last of three meetings will be held July 20 to discuss the update of Lucerne Valley’s Community Plan. The plan was previously updated in 2007.

The County invites everyone to the events, which will provide an opportunity to learn what’s happening, ask questions, take surveys and voice your opinions. For those who can’t attend the meetings, visit www.countywideplan.com/LucerneValley.

The workshops will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Lucerne Valley Community Center, 33187 Old Woman Springs Road.

Movies in the Park being June 17

Lucerne Valley Parks & Recreation, OMYA California, Mitsubishi Cement and the LV Road Runners proudly present the 2016 "Summer Movies In The Park" at the Pioneer Park Outdoor Theater, 33187 Highway 247 East.

Movies begins at dusk. FREE admission.

Summer Clothes in Abundance at His Closet

His Closet Free Ministries is ready with free summer clothes! Our volunteers are full of free Flip-flops, and going silly with summer shorts, skirts and swimsuits! His Closet is overloaded with lots of summer clothes for the whole family. Please come on over and find what you may need. Many more items are added weekly to His Closet. Come and get 'em, while it's HOT. Housewares and furniture may also be available as they are donated.

In addition, His Pantry will have extra produce, when available, for you on open days at His Closet. The food and clothes are free to you but if you are able to donate any funds at all, we are most appreciative.

Calvary Bible Church Youth Group

The Calvary Bible Church Youth Group is starting up. We would like to invite all teens for a time of music, Bible reading and fun. Calvary Bible Church is located at 10099 Crystal Creek Road. For more information, call 760-248-6100.

Spanish Language Church Service

The Lucerne Valley Assembly of God is adding a new Spanish language church service. The new service is Sundays at 6 p.m. (Spanish).

Other times are Sunday at 10:45 a.m. (English); and Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. (English).

Victor Valley Condition Walks

The Sierra Club leads conditioning walks on Wednesday evenings (except the 2nd Wednesdays when the club meets at the Sterling Inn). Walk a few miles along the river enjoying the evening air, the sunset and stars beginning at 7 p.m. Wear comfortable walking shoes and layered clothing and bring water and flashlight. Meet by 24-Hour Fitness (far west corner near the river) in the shopping center on the corner of Bear Valley Road and Apple Valley Road in Apple Valley.
