Last Tuesday night the 6th grade class held their promotion ceremony at the high school. It was well attended by parents, faculty, support staff, board members, and even retired employees of the district. Forty students were promoted to Middle School and the LVES Booster Club provided refreshments for all.
A special dance perfomance was given by Liliana Velasco and Aubry Hirschhorn and a slide show of all the activities the class had participated through out the year.
Student speeches were given by Thomas Cota and Landon Lindner.
Landon's speech was powerfully motivating to his classmates, encouraging them to stay on the right track and work hard to make good grades. Here is part of his speech.
"Now is the time that you get good grades, now is the time to succeed at middle school, then high school, and college, and then who knows. Maybe after succeeding at school, you could be the one that finds a cure to cancer or creates flying cars! But you must know that the only way to succeed is to listen, learn, and try hard! Give all you've got at what ever that comes at you. Try your hardest! But for now, make middle school count. Do the best you can and succeed!"
