Sports: Volleyball team 4-2 in Agape League

On Tuesday, Oct. 11, the Lucerne Valley Mustangs volleyball team lost a home conference match against Hesperia Christian by a score of 3-0.

The visiting team won the first set 25-17 followed by a close second set, 25-21. Hesperia Christian closed out the contest with a 25-18 final set win.

Junior hitter Sarah Smith had 8 of the team's 19 kills. Jasmine Cedeno had 7. On defense, Araselly Diaz, a senior, had 15 digs.

Two days later, on Thursday, Oct. 13, the Mustangs shut out Victor Valley Christian at home, 3-0. The scores: 25-17, 25-19 and 25-15.

Sarah Smith, No. 9, came up big with 12 kills. Jody Evans has 6 kills and Jasmine Cedeno 4. Senior Ashley McClain had 3 kills. Sophomore Tracy Blood had 10 assists while senior C. Robinson had a whopping 13. The two accounting for 23 of Lucerne Valley's 25 assists.

The Lucerne Valley varsity volleyball team faces Apple Valley Christian away at the James Woody Community Center in Apple Valley at 5 p.m. and a home game on Thursday, Oct. 20 against Bethel Christian at 5:30 p.m.

As of last Friday, Lucerne Valley had an overall record of 7-10 but is 4-2 in Agape League play.
