About 50 locations in center of town will be affected
FROM STAFF AND SUBMITTED REPORTS
LUCERNE VALLEY • Center Water Company will shut off water for all of its shareholders on Dec. 18 while the company installs a new pressure tank.
According to a release from the company, service will be shut off at approximately 50 locations along the Old Woman Springs Road/Highway 18 corridor. Next Tuesday’s shutoff will start at 8 a.m. and is expected to last about seven hours, according to the release.
Center Water Company is a small mutually owned water company that provides water to many businesses in the center of town. The shareholders have been personally notified, but the company wanted to notify the community because many businesses, especially restaurants, may be shut down for the day.
However, the Lucerne Valley Market, Letty’s and Burger Depot will not be affected.
According to Center Water Company board member Hank Godwin, the repairs are long overdue and a necessary upgrade to maintain consistent water flow for shareholders. The upgrade will also include two new holding tanks that will be put into use at a later date (but will not require a system shut down).
“We thank our shareholders and the community for their patience,” Godwin said.
