Hazardous waste
collections coming up
The next household hazardous waste collection will be Sept. 14 behind the fire stations. Watch for notices.

L.V. Veterans Memorial Monument meeting
The Lucerne Valley Veterans Memorial Monument Committee will meet on Monday, Aug.19 at 2:30 p.m., Lucerne Valley Community Center.
The committee’s regularly scheduled meeting date is the third Monday of each month. The community, especially veterans, are encouraged to attend.

Analog translator signals to end in September
The analog TV translator signals (Channels 15, 17, 19, 50), currently broadcast on the Lucerne Valley television translator, will be discontinued in early September. All 10 digital channels can currently be found on 41, 43, 48. Two additional channels are in the planning stages with more details to follow in the coming months. Golden Acres Water
annual meeting
The Gordon Acres Water Co., Inc., will hold their annual tract membership meeting on Sunday, Aug. 18 from 1-4 p.m. at the Lucerne Valley Community Center.

Movies in the Park
The Lucerne Valley Parks and Recreation 2013 Summer “Movies In The Park” series will continue with “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” on Aug. 9 and “Big Miracle” on Aug. 23.
The movies are shown in Pioneer Park’s Outdoor Theatre and begin at sunset. Admission is free thanks to event sponsors: OMYA California, Mitsubishi Cement Corp, Lucerne Valley Road Runners and First Mountain Bank.
In case of inclement weather, movies will be shown in the Community Center.

Car Gathering
We will gather at the Lucerne Valley Market on Aug. 22. Hope we see a good number cars there.

AYSO looking for
volunteers to
referee games
Local parents are spearheading a drive to start up a new American Youth Soccer region in Lucerne Valley. Organizers are looking volunteer referees, coaches and more.

BMX track
special events
The BMX track in Lucerne Valley is participating in the BMX Desert Summer Series. Next events in Lucerne Valley will be held on Aug. 11 and Sept. 15. Series events also take place in Hesperia.
Riders of all ages and ability levels are invited to join the fun.
