BOOKING (CONT. SUBSTANCE): On Jan. 2 at 11:13 p.m. in the 32000 area of Zircon Road, 50-year-old James Woodlee of Lucerne Valley was arrested on suspicion of possessing controlled substance paraphernalia and possessing a controlled substance with an enhancement of the charges due to a prior prison term. He was being held on $60,000 bail at the Victor Valley Jail.
BOOKING (CONT. SUBSTANCE): On Jan. 2 at 1:07 a.m. in the area of Neighborly Place and Midway Avenue, a deputy checked on a pedestrian and suspected that the man, 30-year-old Dennis John Best of Lucerne Valley, was under the influence of drugs. Best was hearing voices and had drug paraphernalia in his possession, according to the deputy’s report. Best was arrested on suspicion of possessing controlled substance paraphernalia and being under the influence of a controlled substance. Best was cited and released later that morning.
BOOKING (THREAT): On Jan. 1 at 10:38 a.m. in the 11000 area of Barstow Road, 55-year-old William Ira Lange of Lucerne Valley was arrested on suspicion of making a criminal threat. Lange was being held on $50,000 bail at the Adelanto Detention Center.
BOOKING (VARIOUS): On Dec. 30 at 3:51 p.m. in the area of Pearmain Street and Chamberlaine Way in Adelanto, 46-year-old Selena Jean Richards of Lucerne Valley was arrested on suspicion of unlawful transportation and/or sale of marijuana and misdemeanor warrants related to charges of reckless driving, driving on a suspended or revoked license, operating an unregistered vehicle and failure to provide proof of vehicle insurance.
CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE: On Dec. 28 at 9:09 p.m. in the 31000 area of Furst Street, a deputy saw a man underneath a vehicle with no lights. The man, 42-year-old Joshua David Moore of Lucerne Valley, was found to be in possession of three syringes and a glass pipe. Moore was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor warrant related to a charge of public intoxication (his booking information appeared in last week’s Leader). A woman at the scene was also suspected of being under the influence of drugs and was arrested. Her booking information was not available.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY: On Dec. 27 at 5:26 p.m. in the 30000 area of Sutter Road, a caller reported an attempted burglary. Unknown suspects broke through a gate at the location and then attempted to pry open a door and kicked the garage door. A deputy took a report.
FORGERY: On Dec. 27 at 11:54 a.m., a Lucerne Valley woman claimed that she was drugged and held hostage from March to November of 2012, and that the suspects had forged checks in her name. The woman had previously contacted deputies about the alleged crime, but the allegations could not be substantiated. This time, the woman provided copies of what she stated to be checks forged by three different suspects. A deputy filed a report, and the investigation was ongoing.
VANDALISM: On Dec. 27 at 10:29 a.m. in the 32000 area of Sunset Road, a caller reported that windows were shot out with a BB gun at the location, causing an estimated $400 worth of damage. A deputy took a report.
IDENTITY THEFT: On Dec. 27 at 10:17 p.m., a Lucerne Valley man reported that an unknown person attempted to open a credit card in his name. A deputy took a report.
IDENTITY THEFT: On Dec. 27 at 10:06 a.m., a Lucerne Valley woman reported that someone was using her name and information on utility bills in Arizona. The caller learned of the situation when she received mail from the utility company notifying her of nonpayment. The victim said the suspect was a woman who had previously had a relationship with the victim’s father. A deputy took a report.
BURGLARY: On Dec. 27 at 8:19 a.m. in the 35000 area of Annato Road, a caller reported that unknown suspects had broken into a home sometime within the last month, stealing a television and appliances. A deputy filed a report.
POSSIBLE STOLEN PROPERTY: On Dec. 26 at 3:05 p.m. in the area of Rabbit Springs Road and Meridian Road, a deputy was following up on a burglary investigation when he saw a motorbike that he recognized from a previous burglary case. The bike was parked in front of the trailer of a man who was a suspect in previous incidents. The man was not home at the time, but the deputy filed a report to be used for an investigation.
