Come join in the singing of Christmas music and enjoy a wonderful dinner free at the First Baptist Church of Johnson Valley, Saturday, Dec.14 at 5 p.m.

Follow the same directions as to the Center, but continue past it, up to the end of Larrea Road. Turn left at Golden Ray Road toward the large cross.

Questions, no answers from the U.S. Senate, concerning the planned expansion of the Marine Base into the Johnson Valley OHV Recreation Area. Maybe soon? Everyone goes home in December.

King of the Hammers

Speaking of the Johnson Valley OHV Recreation Area, at the Saturday Breakfast we’re starting to see practicing drivers, and builders who have come to check out their gear, as preparations rev up for the 2014 Griffin King of the Hammers presented by Nitto Tires.

Hammertown opens on Friday, Jan. 31, but a lot of planning and hard work is proceeding now. The magical overnight appearance of the premier OHV vendors’ show, racers’ garages and spectators’ amenities does not just happen overnight. Planning the rock-and-roll race courses take a lot of care, too.

The KOH week will be full of motorcycles, side-by-side UTV’s, stock and modified stock vehicles, and the extreme Ultra4 racers, all facing the challenge of the unique terrain of Johnson Valley.

This year, racers can register online at www.ultra4racing.com, and fans can go there to see the names of verified drivers and riders so far, plus technical safety information and the 2014 race schedule. We look forward to the updated spectator info as we get closer to the big week.
