The Kindergarten and Preschool Round-Up will be held on Wednesday, May 7, from 2 to 4p.m. The event will be held in the Cafeteria of the Lucerne Valley Elementary School.
For kindergarten enrollment, your child must be 5 years old before September 1, 2014. For Preschool, your child must be 4 years old before September 1, 2014.
In order to enroll your child, you will need to bring the following documents:
• Your child’s birth certificate
• Your child’s Immunization record
• Proof of your residency (such as a utility bill with your physical address on it)
California Law requires that children entering kindergarten must have physical and dental evaluations. The appropriate forms for these evaluations are available in the office, or they may be picked up on Round-Up day. You will need to take these with you to your doctor or dentist for completion.
There will be a dentist on site at the Round-Up on May 7th to sign off on your Oral Health Assessment forms. Thanks to the First 5 PACT program, this service will be provided at no charge.
According to the LV School District, preschool programs prepare children for kindergarten as well as later education. Children who attend preschool learn better socialization skills, go into kindergarten better pre-reading skills, have richer vocabularies, and can handle basic math skills better than children who have not attended preschool.
