LUCERNE VALLEY • A centerpiece event for the Lucerne Valley Roadrunners has been canceled.
The Woman, Citizen and Humanitarian of the Year event, which was set for May 17, will not be held, according to even co-organizer Jean Magee.
“Due to lack of participation we are canceling the program for Woman, Citizen, Humanitarian of the Year,” Magee said.
Every year, the Roadrunners hand out awards to Lucerne Valley residents who have made a difference in the community.
The honorees for 2013-14: Citizens of the Year Woody and Pam Hart, Woman of the Year Wanda Gilmore and Humanitarians of the Year Ken and Pat Hoye.
Despite the cancellation, the Roadrunners are hoping for the event to get back on track.
“Hopefully it will return next year,” Magee said.
