Food Distribution
on May 8
The next food give-away from A Place To Go Clubhouse will be held on the second Thursday, May 8, at 3 p.m.
This is first come first serve. If you are picking up for someone, please come in an pick up the pick-up form as the person you are picking up for must sign the form.
The Clubhouse also needs donations of items for the umpcoming rummage sale, and it needs food donations to prepare after meals for members.
The Clubhouse is located at 32770 Old Woman Springs Road

Third Annual Bustier & Garter Poker Run
The Third Annual Bustier & Garter Poker Run is set to begin at 9 a.m. on May 10.
The event is hosted by Pam Hardwick and Pat Hernandez Rose.
All proceeds will go to the Lucerne Valley Youth Project.
The poker run will begin at Cadillac Ranch in Apple Valley, go up to Big Bear, around the lake and end at the new Moose Lodge in Lucerne Valley.
Cost is $20 per rider and $5 for passenger and includes food at the end.

CERT Weather Spotter Class
The Lucerne Valley CERT will conduct a weather spotters class at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 17 at the Community Center. The class will last three to four hours.
The class will be taught by Alex Tardy from National Weather Service. The event is free.
Participants should bring a sheet of paper and pen or pencil.
At the end of the class, participant will be certified to report abnormal weather from any place in the county. You also learn some about the weather and how to report.
You must register for the class.

Veterans Monument Dedication on Memorial Day
The Veterans Monument Dedication will be hosted by the Lucerne Valley Veterans Monument Committee at 10 a.m. on Memorial Day, May 26 at Pioneer Park.
A reception to follow at the Lucerne Valley Community Center.
The monument is dedicated to those who have served honorably in the past, those currently serving and those who will serve in the future.
OMYA, California donated the beautiful white rock.
For everyone who has placed a person in the Lucerne Valley Veterans Honorarium Booklet will receive a booklet. If anyone wishing to have more copies of the Honorarium booklet for family and friends order must be in by Thursday, May 1. The cost is $6 each.
The Lucerne Valley Veterans Monument Committee is also proud to dedicated the Veterans Monument located at Lucerne Valley Memorial Park, 32533 Highway 18.
The event also take place on Memorial Day at 2:30 p.m.
Independence
Day Event
CSA 29 will host the “Red, White and Boom” Independence Day event from 6 to 9:30 p.m. on July 3 at Pioneer Park.
This free family event will feature games, food vendors, a concert by Phat Cat Swinger and end with a fireworks display. Bring blankets and lawn chairs.
Main event sponsors are DS Energy Solutions, Mitsubishi Cement and OMYA, California
Pioneer Park is located at 33187 Highway 247 East.
Parade theme announced
The Lucerne Valley Chamber of Commerce has announced the theme for this year’s Fourth of July Parade. The theme is “Honoring All of Our Military.”
Veterans, active or retired, including any of our wounded are encouraged to participate in the event. Organizers are accepting photos of POWs, MIA’s and those killed in action. The parade grand marshall will ride with the photos of lost loved ones in a truck in the parade.
Veterans who would like to participate in the parade are invited to contact Elizabeth at the Chamber Office in person or by phone at 760-248-7215.
