LVEDA meeting on Aug. 5
The Lucerne Valley Economic Development Association will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5 at the Senior Center.
LVEDA will discuss the status of SCE’s Coolwater/Lugo Transmission application before the CPUC. SCE reps. will provide facts and rationale behind the application, where it is in the process and what’s next. Steve Johnson of Assemb. Donnelly’s office will discuss options for local CPUC hearing(s). Fact session only – we already sent our gripes to CPUC.
The meeting also will include recent information on status of wind/solar projects, including applications on State Lands and BLM and the county’s responses to our request for a meeting.
LVEDA letter to County re: LV Desert View Ranch solar project south of Hwy 18 at our border with Apple Valley.
Possible further LVEDA response/action to Hwy 247 Scenic Corridor proposal.
Assembly candidate (current Mayor of City of Big Bear Lake) Jay Obernolte re: state-related issues affecting us is tentatively schedule for the Sept. LVEDA meeting.
Youth group meeting at Pioneer Park
Calvary Baptist Church is hosting a youth group meeting every Tuesday at 6 p.m.at Pioneer Park. There is live music, a youth lesson and games. All teens are invited. For more information, call 760-248-1127
‘Journey to the Center of the Earth’ next movie of series
The second movie of CSA 29’s Summer Movies in the Park series will be “Journey to the Center of the Earth” on Aug. 15.
Lucerne Valley Parks & Recreation and co-sponsors the Lucerne Valley Road Runners, DS Energy Solutions, Mitsubishi Cement and OMYA California are offering the 2014 Summer Movies in the Park Series.

All movies are shown at Pioneer Park Outdoor Theater, 33187 Highway 247 East. Gates open at 7 p.m. Movies begin at dark.

‘Art the Aspen’ on Oct. 25, 26
The annual “AAUW Art at the Aspen” art show and sale is being staged Oct. 25 and 26 at Sun City in Apple Valley. All artists in the High Desert’s valley and mountain communities are invited to submit an application to participate in this long running art show and sale.

Proceeds benefit American Association of Women’s local scholarship programs.
