A prayer vigil for Pastor Saeed Abedini will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 26 at Pioneer Park.
The event will mark the second anniversary that the American pastor has been imprisoned in Rajai Sahr prison in Iran. Abedini was sentenced to an 8-year prison term for undermining national security through Christian evangelistic activities. He was arrested in the summer of 2012.
Several Christian watchdog groups have said that Abedini, who converted from Islam to Christianity in 2000, is facing threats from The Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) while in prison.
Pamyla DeWitt, who is one of the organizers of the local rally, said the Lucerne Valley event is part of a world-wide prayer vigil.
