They came in droves dressed as princess, action figures or their favorite cartoon or TV character. And for the first time Lucerne Valley trick or treaters came to the parking lot between the library and senior center.

According to co-organizer Woody Hart, more than 50 tailgaters were signed up to hand out candy in the Roadrunner-sponsored annual Tailgate Trick or Treat event.

“I think we’re doing really good,” Hart said. “We’ve got a good crowd. It’s easy for people to get around. I’d say it’s a success.”
This year’s Haunted House was created by Don Henry and his apprentice Harley Gibson.

“He’s a young, up and coming artist,” Henry said of the 19-year-old.

While trick or treaters were collecting candy, others were enjoying food served next to the Senior Center or going on a hayride.
