LV Outriders Ride
and Barbecue
The Lucerne Valley Outriders Equestrian Club is planning a ride and barbecue on April 13 at Owl Canyon off Fort Erwin Road past Barstow.
If you would like to go on the ride be there at 10 a.m. The ride starts at 11 a.m. sharp.
Make plans to stay over night. This happens to be Alex Molnar’s birthday, so he is going to host the ride. The barbecue will also be a potluck about 5 p.m. There are corrals for your horses but you must clean up before you leave. Bring your own chairs and drinks.
The cost for the barbecue is $5 for non-members. For more information, call Marie Scafidi at 760-220-2834 or Peggy Roork at 760-248-6485.
LV Veterans
Memorial Bake Sale
The Lucerne Valley Veterans Memorial Monument Committee will be hosting a bake sale on Saturday, April 13, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lucerne Valley Market. All proceeds will benefit the Veterans Monument that will be placed in Lucerne Valley Memorial Park in honor of all those who have served our Country honorably (past-present-future).
Forms for the Dedication Honorarium Booklet will also be available at the bake sale.
Honorariums honor family members, friends and canine heroes who have served this Country (or are currently serving) while in the Armed Forces. A photograph and short biography will be listed for each honorarium. Each honorarium is $25 or five for $100.
The committee will meet April 19 at the LV Community Center at 2:30 p.m. Anyone interested in joining the committee or assisting in the monument’s fundraising is invited to attend.

Honorary Mayor
Race Begins
The Lucerne Valley Chamber of Commerce welcomes any local resident who’s ever dreamed of being a big shot to compete in this year’s Honorary Mayor race.
Honorary Mayor is a title awarded by the Chamber to the “candidate” who raises the most money in a fundraising competition. Events are held throughout the spring.
The winner gets his or her name on a sign outside the Chamber office and a ceremonial ride through the center of town on a Cadillac during the annual Independence Day parade.
The new mayor will succeed Woody Hart, who has held the title for two years but will not run this year.
Anyone interested in competing is asked to call the Chamber at 760-248-7215.
