Easter Services in Lucerne Valley

Good Friday Service will be held on Friday, April 3 at 6 p.m. featuring special music by the Regents Gospel Group. The service will held at Lucerne Valley Community Church, 10375 Ladera Ave. (Behind the Fire Station). The Regents also will be performing.

The Easter Sunrise Service will be held at Lucerne Valley’s Sundowner Ranchy in the Cove on Sunday, April 5 at 6:30 a.m. The service will be followed by biscuits and gravy breakfast. The service is sponsored by Lucerne Valley Community Church and Crossroads Chapel.

An Easter Morning Church Service will be held at 11 a.m. Lucerne Valley Community Church (Behind the Fire Station). There will be no Sunday School or Adult Sunday School.

Calvary Bible Church Easter Celebration

Come join us for a special time of worship together as we anticipate the Easter celebration with a Good Friday service April 3 at 5:30 pm. It will begin with a Soup and Sandwich potluck at 5:30 p.m. and a service aimed at honoring the death above all deaths of The One above All Ones. Will include drama, music, the preached Word of God, and The Lord's Table. Calvary Bible is located at 10099 Crystal Creek Road.

VFW Spring Fling on April 12

The VFW Post 5551 in Lucerne Valley will host a Spring Fling event at 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 12. The vent will help raise money for veterans. The family-friendly Spring Spring will feature a horse shoe tournament, barbecue burgers and hot dogs and games. Music will be provided by Last Call.

Cost is $10 each or $15 per couple. VFW Post 5551 is located at 31861 Highway 18, Lucerne Valley

Butterflies topic of April 9 Desert Crossroads Garden Club meeting
Gina Charpentier from Oak Hills Butterfly Oasis, a Monarch Waystation will speak at the April 9 Desert Crossroads Garden Club meeting. Gina will be sharing the different types of butterfly host and nectar plants we can grow in our gardens, along with bringing pupa, caterpillars and butterflies to the meeting. Refreshments are at 9 am and our meeting begins at 9:30 am.

Desert Crossroads Garden Clubs Annual Garden Tour will be held April 22, Earth Day. The tour is open to the public. Join us at the Water Awareness Garden behind the Senior Center at 9 am for a guided tour of the our demonstration garden and refreshments. From there we will be touring three local home owners gardens. A box lunch prepared by our local High School ROP Restaurant Occupation Students will be available for the price of $6 for club members and $10 for nonmembers.

County Economic Development Agency director to speak at LVEDA

The next meeting of the Lucerne Valley Economic Development Association will take place at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7 at the Senior Center.

This is a very important meeting. We need your attendance and ideas.

Larry Vaupel, the new Director of the County’s Economic Development Agency, will present the County’s policies and activity re: economic development potential in Lucerne Valley and our rural communities. Discussion will include County leadership and assistance with grants, out-sourcing, etc. We will discuss our proposed senior housing project, a variety of options for real economic benefits, improvements to our local water systems, and the need to protect our interests and future from poorly sited solar and other developments that provide no benefit and consume properties and resources that otherwise could be a benefit. Plus status of the County’s Renewable Energy Element, some good news re: SCE’s proposed Coolwater/Lugo transmission line, etc.

Novice Dog Obedience class

Lucerne Valley Parks and Recreation is offering a nine-week "Novice Dog Obedience" class starting on April 15. The class is a combination of agility and companion dog training.

Cost is $25 for the session, which will be taught by instructor Ginger Miller.

Do not bring your dog to the first meeting. Subsequent classes will be held at 6 p.m. at Pioneer Park.

No overly aggressive dogs, no female dogs in season, must provide own proper equipment, and dogs must be at least 6 months old. Handlers must be at least 9 years old, and a parent or guardian must accompany junior handlers.

Handlers must be registered prior to the first meeting. Registration is at the CSA 29 office at the Community Center.

Participants must bring a proof of current rabies vaccination when registering.

Fire Tax Town Hall

Assemblyman Jay Obernolte will hold a Fire Tax Town Hall meeting on Sat. April 11, from 1 to 2 pm at the Lucerne Valley Senior Center, 10431 Allen Way (behind the Library).

Lucerne Valley Electronic Waste Clean Up

Lucerne Valley Electronic Waste Clean Up will be held on Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18, 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

All electronic and electrical items accepted; Projection TVs, Laptops, PDAs, cell phones, computers, scanners, fax machines, paper shredders, toner and ink cartridges, portable heaters, alkaline batteries, ups Units, VCRs, DVD/CD/Tape players etc. Sponsored by the Lucerne Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Lucerne Valley Market and Cal Micro. Just Jewelry Craft Show on May 1, 2

The next Just Jewelry Craft Show will be held May 1 and 2.

You will be able to find beautiful handmade jewelry that are one of a kind and you will be able to chat with the artists who made them.

The Senior Center is located behind the Janice Horst Branch Library at Highway 247 and Allen Way in Lucerne Valley.

First Mountain Bank to sponsor Mustang Fit

First Mountain Bank is sponsoring Lucerne Valley High School/Middle School Mustang Fit through the bank's

"Pay It Forward Program." All donations will be matched by First Mountain Bank through March 31.

All monies will go towards much need sports and gym equipment.
