Five students from Lucerne Valley FFA participated in the Regional Speaking Competition at Cal Poly Pomona on March 24.
Alexa Walkovitz competed in Impromptu and won first place. Justin Nichols took fourth place in Extemporaneous Speaking. Both will be moving on to the state competitions in Fresno on April 16.
These competitions were a little bit more difficult than the High Desert Division events, but the best part was actually being able to go up to that level.
We met many people who competed with us and made many friends. The energy in the holding room was exciting and everyone we competed with and against were all so supportive, especially when our name was called to compete. We encouraged each other and congratulated everyone who won and those who would be moving on to the State level.
