VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
Community Church VBS

Lucerne Valley Community Church will hold its Vacation Bible School, "Cave of Wonders 2016," from July 18-21 from 1:45-5 p.m. VBS is for children ages 5 through 12. Lucerne Valley Community is located on Ladera Road behind the Fire Station. For more information, call Ammy at (442) 243-1513.

'Cave Quest' at Lucerne Assembly of God

Lucerne Valley Assembly of God will host its Vacation Bible School July 25-28 from 9:30 a.m. to noon daily. The theme of this free event is "Cave Quest: Following Jesus, The Light of the World." There will be games, snacks, music, bible, arts and crafts for preschool through 5th grade. Lucerne Assembly of God is at 10216 Crystal Creek Road, Lucerne Valley. Block party at Lucerne Assembly of God

Following Lucerne Valley Assembly of God's VBS, the church will host a family Block Party on Friday, July 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. The first 100 kids will receive a free backpack. Summer Strings Music Camp to begin

Sunrise Church in Victorville is hosting a Summer Strings Music Camp for all ages from July 25-29 and Aug. 1-6.

Brigham Welch, who is the band instructor for the Lucerne Valley Unified School District, is one of the music camp instructors.

Registration and auditions will be held on July 22. Instrument instruction includes violin, viola, cello and bass private lessons beginner, intermediate and advanced string orchestras. Cost is $100 for participant with additional siblings $75.

Frontier Days Signups

Tthe Chamber will be holding Frontier Days this fall. Scheduled for Oct. 15, the event will be held at Lazy Lizard Ranch, Lazy Lizard Ranch, 35535 Highway 18. The event beckons Lucerne Valley's early days. There will be a chili cook off, horseshoe contest and more.

Applications for Frontier Days booths currently available at the Lucerne Valley Chamber of Commerce office. Booth cost: $30 for 10x10 booths. All booths spaces will be assigned in order received, first come, first served.

Horseshoe tournament fee: $10. Note: Chili Cook Off Participants no charge for booths. $5 Entry fee for participants.

Booth set up will start at 7 a.m. All booths must be in place by 8:45 a.m. on Saturday, Oct.15. Due to spectator traffic, please no late set up. Vendors must provide their own tables, chairs, trash bags, water pails and shelters. Vendors are responsible for their security, although minimal security will be provided. Maintain cleanliness and removal of waste materials. Due to congestion of vehicles in and around the event grounds, please unload and load promptly and move vehicle to the vendor parking area.

Center Water Co. providing annual report to customers

What’s in your tap water besides water? A short new report from your water supplier will tell you where your water comes from, what's in it, and how safe it is. Look for the report in your mail, and read it. Because when it comes to understanding your drinking water, the most important ingredient is you.

Center Water Company, which supplies water to business and residents in the center of Lucerne Valley, has their Consumer Confidence Report available to its consumer as of June 28, 2016.

The Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) Rule, 63 FR 44511, August 19. 1998 Vol. 63, No. 160, purpose is to improve public health protection by providing educational material to allow consumers to make educated decisions regarding any potential health risks pertaining to the quality, treatment, and management of their drinking water supply. The CCR Rule requires all community water systems to prepare and distribute, by July 1st a brief annual water quality report summarizing information regarding source water, detected contaminants, compliance, and educational information.

You may pick up a copy of the report at Center Water Co office, 32774 Old Woman Springs Road. Office hours are Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can also find more information on CCRs at https://www.epa.gov/ccr.

Kids Kraft Days

Your children are out of school. Now you need to keep them busy! Enjoy a free craft for the kids, some socializing time, and a cool place to do it. Lucerne Valley Museum’s Kids Krafts returns on alternate Thursday mornings from 11 a.m. until noon inside the Lucerne Valley Community Center. It’s cool inside!

It’s free! Refreshments are available, too. Create critters, marble art, pioneer inspired toys and games. We provide the supplies! You bring the kids!

Movies in the Park

Lucerne Valley Parks & Recreation, OMYA California, Mitsubishi Cement and the LV Road Runners proudly present the 2016 "Summer Movies In The Park" at the Pioneer Park Outdoor Theater, 33187 Highway 247 East.

Friday Night Dinners, Taco Night at the V.F.W.

The V.F.W. Post 551 in Lucerne Valley is now doing Friday Night Dinners from 3 – 6 p.m. Also, the V.F.W. is continuing Taco Night on Thursdays starting at noon. All are welcome to enjoy. The V.F.W. is at 31861 Highway 18, Lucerne Valley.

Moose Lodge Jam

The Moose Lodge will host a barbecue party jam session at 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 24. The jam sessions are held at the Lodge every fourth Sunday of the month. The Lucerne Valley Moose Lodge is located at 31878 Laramie St, Lucerne Valley, CA 92356. For more information, call (760) 248-6164.

Evening in the Park

Starting earlier this month, the community will be gathering at Pioneer Park each Friday evening to barbeque together, eat, play games and enjoy music. We will fire up the barbeques at 4 p.m., and will have plenty of food, so come eat with us and enjoy the relaxed family atmosphere of our beautiful park. This weekly gathering is sponsored by individual followers of Jesus working together to love the residents of Lucerne Valley.

Community Workshops

The last of three meetings will be held July 20 to discuss the update of Lucerne Valley’s Community Plan. The plan was previously updated in 2007.

The County invites everyone to the events, which will provide an opportunity to learn what’s happening, ask questions, take surveys and voice your opinions. For those who can’t attend the meetings, visit www.countywideplan.com/LucerneValley.

The workshops will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Lucerne Valley Community Center, 33187 Old Woman Springs Road.

Summer Clothes in Abundance at His Closet

His Closet Free Ministries is ready with free summer clothes! Our volunteers are full of free Flip-flops, and going silly with summer shorts, skirts and swimsuits! His Closet is overloaded with lots of summer clothes for the whole family. Please come on over and find what you may need. Many more items are added weekly to His Closet. Come and get 'em, while it's HOT. Housewares and furniture may also be available as they are donated.

In addition, His Pantry will have extra produce, when available, for you on open days at His Closet. The food and clothes are free to you but if you are able to donate any funds at all, we are most appreciative.

His Closet Free Ministries - His Pantry Community Food Outreach is a FREE ministry located at 34551 Highway 18, Lucerne Valley. Calvary Bible Church Youth Group

Spanish Language Church Service

The Lucerne Valley Assembly of God is adding a new Spanish language church service. The new service is Sundays at 6 p.m. (Spanish).

Other times are Sunday at 10:45 a.m. (English); and Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. (English).
