Big Yard Sale at Senior Center
The Lucerne Valley Seniors will hold a yard sale on June 5, 6, 7 at the Senior Center.
The sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.
Breakfast on Saturday will include biscuits and gravy and omelet for $5. Pancakes and bacon are $3. Includes orange juice and coffee.
Lunch is served at 11 a.m. and features meatball subs with potato salad for $4 with sodas $1.

LVEDA Meeting on June 3
The next meeting of the Lucerne Valley Economic Development Association will be held at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3 at the Senior Center.
A representative of Lucerne Valley CERT will be present a compilation of emergency contacts, locations, etc. for our town’s Disaster Plan at the next regular meeting. The CERT emergency information includes water sources/deliveries, generators, human and animal shelters, portable corrals, livestock trailers, hay, food, propane, areas OK for emergency camping, porta potties, etc. Bring your ideas and contacts.
Also, John Wilson of Ambassador Energy will talk about a community energy solar program.
A representative from SCE may be present to provide an update on the Coolwater-Lugo Transmission Line and the application to the Public Utilities Commission.
Also the status of the North Peak Wind, etc., will be discussed. LVEDA now has a single map that shows all renewable energy (wind/solar) projects under BLM, county, State Lands Commission jurisdictions and their current status.

Arrastre Canyon Hike
Please join the Mojave Group of The Sierra Club on Saturday, June 7 for a 3-mile hike in Arrastre Canyon in Apple Valley. This hike is rated easy and the view is breathtaking. Bring a camera, sun block, water, lunch, snacks and good hiking shoes. Meet at the Victor Valley Museum in Apple Valley at 8 a.m.

Calvary Bible
Church events
Calvary Bible Church is planning a car wash at the Market on June 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Proceeds from the event will help teens go to Bible Summer Camp. 
The church is planning to host a Vacation Bible School for June 9-13 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. from kindergarten through 6th grade. This year’s theme is “Agent D3: Discover, Decide and Defend.  I Peter 3:15.”
During the week, kids will become Agency D3 special agents during Vacation Bible School,  Special Agents D3 will collect and log evidence about Jesus. Using their best high-tech operative skills, they will examine eyewitness reports, physical proof and biblical accounts to uncover and defend the truth about who Jesus really is. By collecting all the evidence, they will Discover the truth of the gospel; Decide to believe it; and then Defend that decision.  
Car Gathering
Our next gathering will be at Stallones Pizza on June 25th.
Independence
Day Event
CSA 29 will host the “Red, White and Boom” Independence Day event from 6 to 9:30 p.m. on July 3 at Pioneer Park.
This free family event will feature games, food vendors, a concert by Phat Cat Swinger and end with a fireworks display. Bring blankets and lawn chairs.
Main event sponsors are DS Energy Solutions, Mitsubishi Cement and OMYA, California
Pioneer Park is located at 33187 Highway 247 East.
Parade theme
announced
The Lucerne Valley Chamber of Commerce has announced the theme for this year’s Fourth of July Parade. The theme is “Honoring All of Our Military.”
Veterans, active or retired, including any of our wounded are encouraged to participate in the event. Organizers are accepting photos of POWs, MIA’s and those killed in action. The parade grand marshall will ride with the photos of lost loved ones in a truck in the parade.
Veterans who would like to participate in the parade are invited to contact Elizabeth at the Chamber Office in person or by phone at 760-248-7215.

THE PARK
Lucerne Valley Parks & Recreation and co-sponsors the Lucerne Valley Road Runners, DS Energy Solutions, Mitsubishi Cement and OMYA California are offering the 2014 Summer Movies in the Park Series.
The free family movie events:
July 25 - “The Goonies”
Aug. 15 - “Journey to the Center of the Earth”
Aug. 29 - “The Lego Movie”
All movies are shown at Pioneer Park Outdoor Theater, 33187 Highway 247 East. Gates open at 7 p.m. Movies begin at dark.
