LVEDA on Aug. 5
The Lucerne Valley Economic Development Association will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5 at the Senior Center.
LVEDA will discuss the status of SCE’s Coolwater/Lugo Transmission application before the CPUC. SCE reps. will provide facts and rationale behind the application, where it is in the process and what’s next. Steve Johnson of Assemb. Donnelly’s office will discuss options for local CPUC hearing(s). Fact session only – we already sent our gripes to CPUC.
Recent info. on status of wind/solar projects, including applications on State Lands and BLM and County responses to our request for a meeting.
LVEDA letter to County re: LV Desert View Ranch solar project south of Hwy 18 at our border with Apple Valley.
Possible further LVEDA response/action to Hwy 247 Scenic Corridor proposal.
Assembly candidate (current Mayor of City of Big Bear Lake) Jay Obernolte re: state-related issues affecting us is tentatively schedule for the Sept. LVEDA meeting.

Movies in the Park series
“The Goonies” will kick off the Lucerne Valley Parks & Recreation Summer Movies in the Park series on July 25.
Lucerne Valley Parks & Recreation and co-sponsors the Lucerne Valley Road Runners, DS Energy Solutions, Mitsubishi Cement and OMYA California are offering the 2014 Summer Movies in the Park Series.

July 25 - “The Goonies”
Aug. 15 - “Journey to the Center of the Earth”
Aug. 29 - “The Lego Movie”
All movies are shown at Pioneer Park Outdoor Theater, 33187 Highway 247 East. Gates open at 7 p.m. Movies begin at dark.

Post Office hours change
The Lucerne Valley Post Office will change its weekday office hours. The location will close at 4:30 p.m. (instead of the current 5 p.m.) but remain open during lunch hours.
The schedule change takes effect on Aug. 2.
