At least six burglaries were reported within a two-day span in a small area of southern Lucerne Valley, including five reported on the same day on the same road, sheriff’s documents show.

On Dec. 8, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to five calls for service in a remote area near the intersection of Mesa Road and Powerline Road in the southern part of the valley.

Four of the homes were located on a tiny side street known as Onyx Road (not the same Onyx Road located further north in the Gem Tract).

A man who owns one of the cabins said the unknown suspect(s) cut through his chainlink fence while he was away, then took an ax to the brand new doors he’d installed.

“They went in and just basically ransacked the cabin,” said the man, who did not want his name used for this story because he was concerned about possible retaliation from the suspect(s).

He said two outbuildings on the property were also ransacked and various items were taken, including silverware, tools, propane tanks and furniture.

Another burglary was reported on Onyx Road on Dec. 6, and on Dec. 8 a burglary was reported on Richard Street, just a few hundred yards away.

Further details on the incidents were not available. Anyone with information about a local crime can call the Lucerne Valley substation at (760) 248-7655. Tipsters may also call the WeTip Hotline at (800) 78-CRIME or you may leave information on the WeTip Hotline at www.wetip.com.
