Hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and lots of lemonade were consumed free of charge in Pioneer Park last Friday evening as representatives from many different churches in Lucerne Valley gathered to play music, and feed anyone and everyone who came along.

“We fed over 50 people last night,” said Stephanie Cervantes, one of the organizers. “There were at least 15 kids in the park when we started cooking and more came as the evening cooled, we fed them all.”

The group got up game of softball and basketball inviting everyone to play. Next week they plan to play flag football and have games for the younger kids as well.

“We plan to be in the park every Friday evening throughout the summer, serving up food, fun and fellowship and everyone is welcome,” said Cervantes.

Last Friday there were representatives from Lucerne Valley Community Church, Calvary Bible Church, and Crossroads Community Church, but they emphasized that this is not sponsored by any one church, but rather by individuals who feel called to do what Jesus did when he fed the hungry and reached out to the lost. They invite anyone who feels led to serve, to come out and be a part of the fun. They also invite anyone who is hungry for good music, good conversation and good food to come out and enjoy an “Evening in the Park.”
